Where students build with AI, not just learn about it.

Labs is the Applied AI Club's dedicated space for building real things with AI.

Applied AI Mission Statement

The Applied AI Club helps students understand how artificial intelligence is used to solve real challenges in business and drive smarter decisions.

Labs is the research and development branch of the Applied AI Club. We collect ideas from students, faculty, and partners about how AI is being used at Penn State and store every submission in a structured database that grows across semesters. Members who want to go deeper can get hands-on with the tools and concepts shaping the field.

What Is Applied AI Labs?

What We've Built

Our first project is the Student AI Hub, a resource curated by Applied AI Club members to help Penn State students understand how AI works in school, business, and professional life. The Hub was built by club members using Codex to generate structure and HTML, AI-assisted scraping to source foundational references, and Wix for deployment. The hub serves as a working demo of what Labs actually does.

Where We Are Going

The Idea Base and the Student AI Hub are the foundation. From here, Labs is where members build with LangChain, run retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, experiment with vector databases, and deploy agents that actually do things. The roadmap is hands-on work with the same stack serious labs use.
